Pandemic Awareness, Preparedness, and Response Training is designed to help businesses and employers understand the impact of a pandemic on business operations, the workforce, and the wider community. It describes the elements of a business continuity plan along with the hazard controls that can be implemented to safeguard the health and well-being of employees.
The global outbreak of an infectious disease – a pandemic – can have a profound impact on the social and economic fabric of societies around the world. Pandemics occur infrequently, but we saw its far-reaching impact when the world experienced the rapid spread of the SARS-CoV-2 virus in 2019 and beyond. The COVID-19 pandemic impaired and even halted business activities more completely than any other commonly occurring emergencies, such as blizzards or routine flu epidemics, most of the world had seen until that point. Therefore, planning and preparing for a pandemic remains essential to ensuring an effective response and safeguarding the safety and health of employees at the workplace.
The core objective of the Pandemic Awareness, Preparedness, and Response Training is to familiarize employers and their employees with the significance and essential elements of a flexible business continuity plan for outbreaks of infectious diseases. This Pandemic Awareness, Preparedness, and Response Training program will also highlight the various hazard controls and intervention strategies that can be implemented to curb the spread of an infectious agent in the workplace as well as the wider community.
