Current Workers: If you were already working in NYC construction before the DOB's updated Site Safety Training requirements took effect, you must complete a 40-hour DOB-approved SST Worker course to qualify for an SST Worker card.
New Entrants: If you entered the NYC construction industry after December 1, 2019, you must complete a 10-hour OSHA course before starting work. Within six months of starting your job, you must complete an additional 40 hours of training to qualify for an SST Worker card.
Course Credits
We will accept documentation, including identification cards or certificates of completion, from other Department-approved SST course equivalents listed on the Department’s website. These hours can be applied toward satisfying the SST training requirements.
